World Tour 052-Rif to Djupivogur - Iceland

Iceland, known as the land of fire and ice, provides a stunning backdrop for stage 52 of the tour. Starting at Rif in the Vesturland (Western Region), you'll circle around the large Breiðafjörður Bay to the Vestfirðir (Wesfjords) region, with its stunning coastal mountain and fjord landscape. After exploring the rugged north coast of the island, you'll venture inland to the central landscape dominated by low lying volcanoes and glacial ice caps on the way to the capital city, Reykjavík. The final part of the stage will travel along the south coast, an area of flat coastal lagoons and black sand beaches punctuated by mountains squeezing the Ring Road highway against the shore, to end in Djúpivogur, the final stop before the last part of the Atlantic crossing to Europe
