Aleutian Cargo Run (FSX) – Alaska, U.S.

Printer Friendly Version

As a pilot for a Dutch Harbor-based Alaskan air taxi operation, you make your living flying up and down the islands of the Aleutian chain. The weather in the Aleutians is notoriously unpredictable, and as winter approaches, the job becomes one of the most dangerous in the world. It may be sunny on Umnak, but there's a storm approaching Dutch Harbor.

The mission begins with the Goose at the end of the runway at Nikolski Air Station (PAKO) at the south end of Umnak Island. Take off whenever you're ready.

Once airborne, follow the eastern coast of the island north. Cross Umnak Pass and make a water landing at Chernofski Harbor (KCN) at the southern end of Unalaska Island. Water taxi to the dock and drop off the mail. Then take off again and fly northeast. Land on the runway at Unalaska Airport (PADU) in Dutch Harbor.

The direct course from Nikolski Air Station to Chernofski Harbor Seaplane Base and Unalaska Airport is programmed into the GPS. Navigate as desired, or as necessary due to weather. Altitude is at your discretion. You can fly VFR and thread your way through the clouds, or file IFR enroute using the Flight Simulator Air Traffic Control feature.

Unalaska Airport has an NDB approach (283 DUT) if you can't make it in visually. You can navigate in this mission by following the Mission Compass and Mission Pointer.

You're all alone on this flight. You'll be prompted to communicate with the company dispatcher, and you'll hear radio communications between the dispatcher and other aircraft. You can use the Flight Simulator Air Traffic Control feature if you desire.
